Visiting Redeemer Church

Welcome to Redeemer Church.  We're glad that you're interested in visiting us!  Below, you'll find information that will be useful in planning your visit and in deciding whether to make us your church home.  You'll find when you spend time with us that we are far from perfect--but that we want to point you to the One who is.

A Brief History

Redeemer Church was founded in September of 2013 and held its first worship service on Sunday, November 3, 2013 at Pine Knob Elementary School in Clarkston. Our growing church moved to a larger space at Sashabaw Middle School in June of 2015. In June of 2017 we purchased an existing church facility in Waterford, Michigan. On July 16, 2017 we held our first worship service at our new permanent location.

Redeemer Church is led by our Founding & Teaching Pastor, Paul Edwards. Paul did his post-graduate studies at Grace Seminary in Winona Lake, Indiana. He was ordained on April 27th, 1986. He has pastored churches in Michigan, Indiana, and Texas and has been a pastor in Waterford since 2001. From 2001 to 2013 he was the host of an afternoon drive-time talk program on Christian radio in Detroit.

Sunday Morning at 9:00 am is our Bible Teaching Hour. We meet for 50 minutes of instruction from the Bible followed by a time of refreshments and fellowship.

Sunday Morning at 10:00 am we enjoy an informal time of fellowship and refreshments prior to our worship gathering. This is an excellent time to meet others in our congregation!

Sunday Morning at 10:30 am we have our main gathering of the week where we hear and sing God's word and respond to him.

Sunday Evening at 6:00 pm we conclude the Lord's Day together with prayer and worship.

Wednesday at 7:00 pm is our mid-week gathering for prayer and Bible study. It lasts about one hour.

You will discover that we put the emphasis in our worship on several important priorities:

  • SINGING: The great 19th century Baptist preacher in London, Charles Spurgeon, said: “Singing, as it is a joyful, and at the same time a devout, exercise, should be a constant form of approach to God. The measured, harmonious, hearty utterance of praise by a congregation of really devout persons is not merely decorous but delightful, and is a fit anticipation of the worship of heaven, where praise has absorbed prayer, and become the sole mode of adoration.”
  • SCRIPTURE READING: The word of God is powerful to do for us beyond what we can even imagine. Our weekly Lord's Day worship features much public reading of the Bible without commentary.
  • PRAYER: Nothing of significance happens in our worship service without significant times of prayer. We spend time each Lord's Day praying for each other, for the church around the world (especially in places where persecution and martyrdom are all too real), our nation, and for the advance of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

What About My Kids?

We have ministries for children of all ages during Sunday services. Programs for pre-school children and classes for K-6th grade run during the second half of the Sunday morning services.  Your school-age children may join you for the opening of the worship service. They will be dismissed for their age-graded activities prior to the preaching. When you arrive with your children at our Sunday morning service you may go directly to the Children's Ministry room to register your children for their activities. Learn more...
